Remembering Bharat Ratna Sir M. Visvesvaraya – Engineers’ Day at PIA

Engineers’ Day was celebrated at Peenya Industries Association on Sep 15, 2025 chaired by Shri Sheshadri Mokshagundam as the Chief Guest along with Shri D.P. Danappa, President of PIA.
Multiple achievers from various fields were honored as part of the celebrations. Shri Vasanth Mallaiah, Shri Satyanarayana U, Shri Mallikarjunayya H R, Shri Divakar Reddy T, and Shri S. Purushotham and Team PIA viz. Shri Patil D H, Senior Vice President, Shri Beerappa B, Honorary Secretary, Shri Thimmaiah B, oint Secretary, Shri A.P. Selva Kumar, Treasurer, Shri M.R. Rangaswamy, Joint Treasurer, Past Presidents, MCMs, and other PIA Members were present.


PIA President Shri D.P. Danappa observed that it has been a tradition in PIA to celebrate Engineers’ Day every year and pay homage to Bharat Ratna Sir M. Visvesvaraya, whose birthday is commemorated on this day. He highlighted that the legacy of Sir MV continues to inspire generations of entrepreneurs, engineers, and innovators in Peenya, reminding them of the importance of discipline, planning, and technological excellence.


“Engineers’ Day is not only about celebrating professionals of this noble field, but also about rededicating ourselves to building a stronger industrial base for Karnataka and the nation,” Shri Danappa noted.
Chief Guest Shri Sheshadri Mokshagundam in his address underlined the pivotal role of engineers in nation-building, particularly in the MSME sector. He called upon young engineers to embrace innovation, sustainability, and digital transformation as essential tools to meet the challenges of the modern industrial ecosystem.


He urged industries to foster collaborations between engineers, entrepreneurs, and policymakers to accelerate progress and keep India at the forefront of global competitiveness.
Sir M. Visvesvaraya, fondly remembered as the “Father of Modern Mysore,” was not only a brilliant engineer but also a visionary statesman. His contributions in designing dams, irrigation systems, industrial townships, and laying the foundation for modern industries remain unmatched. He believed in efficiency, self-reliance, and technological advancement as the keys to national development—principles that continue to resonate with Peenya’s industrial community.
