The meeting on August 24 between the Peenya Industries Association (PIA) and Sri Tushar Girinath, IAS, Chief Commissioner of BBMP, addressed critical infrastructure issues impacting the Peenya industrial area. Led by PIA President Sri Shiva Kumar R. and other office bearers, the discussions highlighted several urgent concerns that are hindering industrial growth, including:
1. Road Repairs: Poorly maintained roads with potholes, which pose safety risks and disrupt traffic flow, require immediate repairs.
2. Traffic Management: Expanding road infrastructure and deploying traffic police during peak hours to ease congestion.
3. Drainage System Overhaul: The current drainage system is inadequate, leading to flooding and damage to roads and industries. A long-term upgrade is necessary. 4. Street Lighting: Installation of LED streetlights to improve safety, particularly for women employees working late.
5. Police Patrolling: Enhanced security measures, including increased patrolling, to address crime and harassment.
6. Waste Management: The industrial complex is facing issues with garbage accumulation and debris, requiring urgent intervention by BBMP.
7. Property Tax Concerns: SMEs in the area are seeking fair taxation based on the built-up area with more flexible payment options.
Sri Shiva Kumar R. emphasised the economic importance of resolving these issues for the region’s prosperity. The meeting concluded with a call for a collaborative effort between the industry and BBMP to implement solutions and support a thriving business environment in Peenya.
